EmmChat -February 2010 Issue 4
The following Article was submitted by Debbie Kinley, who is the Emmett Therapies Co-ordinator in the United Kingdom. Debbie was one of those who attended the training in Zurich and was a witness to Ross’s treatment of the German man with Multiple Sclerosis who presented following the training.
Her observations are extremely moving and from accounts we have received from others who also witnessed the event, relay the feeling and emotion of the event as it unfolded. Thank you for sharing your account with us Debbie.

“Ross’s story, “A move too far”, in the last Emm Chat has inspired me to share my very special memories of that treatment from an observer’s perspective.
I was on a flying visit to Switzerland of just 16 hours and yet during that short period, I managed to hear Romney Smeeton speak about his work with Tom Bowen and to witness this wonderful therapeutic intervention.
When the gentleman arrived on his two sticks, he seemed incredibly frail and it was painful even to watch him walking.
Not wanting to be intrusive, I kept my distance at first, but, as I watched, the most beautiful dance was unfolding and it drew me closer.
Watching Ross and the client, it was clear that no-one else mattered; in fact I doubt that either of them was aware of anyone else at that time. I wish I could better describe the magic of what was happening there, what an exquisite therapeutic bond was present in just a couple of minutes and how amazing it was to see. The expression “you could have heard a pin drop” cannot quite express the quality of the silence that enveloped us all.
When the client stood for the first time and I saw the expression on his and his daughter’s faces, the tears came. It was achingly beautiful - I certainly wasn’t the only person who wiped away a tear that evening!
I was extremely fortunate to have been there at that time and I still cannot talk about the experience without my emotions welling up.
The other thing which was special for me was a reminder of Ross’s generosity in sharing his gift, as he and Karen then took the time out to work with the client’s daughter so she could help her father in the future. The whole episode took less than twenty-five minutes, yet has changed two lives irrevocably and touched many others. I will never forget it.”
