EmmChat - February 2010 Issue 4
Debbie is a Remedial Therapist in Townsville, North Queensland. She runs an extremely busy practice which is frequented by elite sportspeople and professional athletes. Debbie has been very active as an EmmTech Tutor and trainee instructor. We asked her to tell us a little of her “Emmett” story…
Reasons why wanted to Study the Emmett Technique
“I was a Remedial Therapist of about eleven years experience. After working hard on both professional athletes and the general public for this amount of time, I thought there must be an easier and more efficient way to relieve the body of muscular tightness and discomfort. I studied Bowen Therapy, and incorporated it into my treatments for nearly two years. It was a therapy l was not 100% comfortable or confident with using because l wasn’t seeing the fast results l had hoped for. I had heard about the Emmett Technique and how results happen immediately as the therapist hits the release points. I hoped this was the key l was looking for to incorporate into my treatments. I was eager to learn more.
I studied level 1 & 2 of The Emmett Technique in Melbourne in 2005 I could not get enough of it, so l
quickly completed the next levels in Townsville a short time after. I was so excited with the therapy and just how easy it was to work it into my massage treatments. I became confident with the therapy in a short time and started treating clients by combining the Emmett Technique with a small amount of Bowen. My clients are also grateful for the therapy, because I now can be specific in alleviating pain and discomfort for them. Before learning the Emmett Technique, I was unable to achieve immediate results as l do now. It is very rewarding to have your clients continually thanking you for taking their pain away.
My job is now very satisfying. I have finally found the key to my treatments l was looking for.”
