EmmChat - February 2010 Issue 4
Following Debbie’s profile in our last EmmChat and her summary of all the great work she and the UK team are doing, we asked her to supply us with a little more of a personal insight.
“Isn’t it always easier to introduce someone else than it is to tell people about yourself?
I come from Northern Ireland, a country which would fit into Australia 545 times – though there is no need to do that as an awful lot of us are in Australia already! I left Ireland in 1985 to take a world tour, with my first stop being the Isle of Man, half way between Ireland and England. Whilst there, I went to a hockey game, met and married the team coach and stayed for nine years! I continued my ill-fated tour in 1994, reaching England and staying for another seven years before moving to Mauritius for eight months. Then it was back to England, where I have lived happily since with my partner Colin and a pack of large, hairy, and very exuberant dogs.
We are both rugby fans and tension is high in our house when Ireland play England – he’s a bad loser! Colin plays a lot of sport, but I mostly content myself with watching and, of course, fixing the players at every opportunity. These days, though, Colin is as likely to fix them up himself, as he too has been learning Emmett. When not working, I like to read, travel, play on the Wii Fit and am currently studying NLP on a Practitioner Course. I have been an Emm-Tech tutor for a while now and love to travel around the country giving courses and spreading the Emmett work.”
